Understanding value, why it is important, and how find the proper value.

Value refers to how light or dark a colour appears. It's one of the most important elements for creating depth, form, and contrast. Strong value contrast can make a subject stand out, while subtle shifts in value can create softness and realism. Even in colourful artwork, value is what gives the image structure and helps the viewer's eye move through the piece.
